Fun Things To Do – Local Museums

Camden Museum

Whenever I travel, I enjoy popping in to the local museums (and graveyards too!) to collect a little history on the area.  We have a couple museums and historical societies right here in at the Lake.   I have not been to all of them as yet, but my favorite is the Camden County Museum in Linn Creek.  The gals there are amazing. They offer theater and kids events such as Trunk or Treat night, car shows and the building so very historical and interesting.   I travelled there to review the history of our little resort and had a great opportunity to learn so much about the lake and the cave system too!

Just to list a few of the local area museums and graveyards rich with history:

Camden County Museum, Linn Creek, Hours 10 to 4 Monday – Friday, 573-346-7191:  With artifacts from the historic towns of Camdenton, Laurie, Macks Creek, Montreal, Osage Beach, Sunrise Beach, etc., on display, the Linn Creek Historic School House Museum is an interesting place to visit.

Miller County Museum, 2005 Hwy 52, Tuscumbia, 573-369-3500:  This museum is rich with history (of course), historical place references and civil war information.

Morgan County Historical Society & Museum, 120 N Monroe Street, Versailles.  573-378-5530.  This museum has an interesting past as the Martin Hotel first built in 1877 and owned and operated by Elizabeth until she was 103 years old.

Willmore Lodge, 1 Willmore Lane, Lake Ozarks, MO  65049, 573-964-1008.  Definitely a favorite as it has amazing views of the lake as well as all the history of the dam’s creation.  It is a fun step back in time.
